I don't understand the question. Are you referring to the Pencil wearing down the iPad's finish while the Pencil is charing? No. Why would it?

2 hard surfaces rubbing against each other.

Yikes! No functionality lost, but I might get a soft sleeve for the Pencil.

Yes, it's a thing that can SOMETIMES happen. How likely is it to happen to you is anyone's guess. I wrapped my Pencil 1 with woodgrain Con-tact paper... I've had the pencil for nearly 6 years with it and it looks and feels brand new.

But if you want to go the pre-manufactured route, there are skins/sleeves out there for the Pencil 2 that aren't expensive.

Plastic on metal shouldn't really be an issue. Scratches will most likely be caused by debris getting trapped between the two surfaces. Use dbrand skins or something like that if you really want to avoid any chances of that happening.

If this bothers you, you *might* be just a little bit anal.

The magnets can cause the plating on the iPad’s aluminum to flake off over time. It’s not abrasion, so maybe a skin will help. This is my 3rd Gen iPad Pro.
