Looks like the timer doesn’t stop when one stops running while tracking Running in Workout. This was the behavior before 2021 if I remember correctly and it was changed back just a few months ago. Unless there’s a hidden setting I’m unaware of.

The same is for outdoor cycling tracking. Previously, timer would automatically stop when I’m stopped (usually at a traffic light) or pushing my bike, but I noticed that it continues to count as usual when I’m not actively cycling.

Can someone confirm if this changed in a recent update? I’m in WatchOS 10.4.

Edit:
Oops I didn’t know there’s a setting for auto pause and it was turned off randomly.

Conversely, I will be turning that option off since I've been walking on the beach for a few hours everyday, but most of that Outdoor Walk "workout" involves pushing the crown to stop the incessant "Hey, slowpoke, are you done <airquotes>working out</airquotes>?"
