I landed a MacPro 1,1 recently, mostly because it was a darn sight cheaper than springing for new Mac. Plus I was tired of my brother's nagging about getting a Mac. Any way, I've seen several articles about upgrading / updating/ whatevering the 32-bit boot.efi to a 64-bit boot.efi. I'm running Lion 10.7.5 with 8GB RAM. (I need to play with the second RAM card because it won't boot when it's installed.) I have noticed a lot of the software out there will not install because of the Lion 10.7.5 / 32-bit system, not that most of the software provides any real benefit over what's already on the MP.
So, is it worth the headache to do an upgrade of the boot.efi to 64-bit? My skill level with Macs is lower than that of the coders writing MSWindows. (Think about it.)
