Hello Apple friends.

In case a Mac's main monitor (be it a modular one or integrated one like in the laptops and iMac) suddenly fail and don't display anything, will the Mac's firmware automatically display the Desktop on the another external monitor if you set it up on Display Preferences as an 'Extended Monitor' or you must have set it for 'Mirroring' which is less used unless it's for a presentation, so you could at least have something to use while the main display is out (perhaps just blank, doesn't switch ON internally or the LEDs are busted all at the same time from old age or heat).

Thank you in advance.

May your week be blessed and the immediate goal met this week.

If the main monitor is detached from the computer, then yes.
If not, depending on the set-up. Worst case scenario, if the display mode is "show on main monitor only", then no.

If the Mac is in clamshell mode (with a keyboard, Mouse and charger connected)... possibly? Clamshell mode doesn't depend on any mirroring settings that were previously set.
