When I first saw it, I thought it was a foldable & therefore a scratch magnet. But since it’s just a wrap around screen, I guess you could put a (plastic) screen protector on it for peace of mind.

Also 108MB camera. What sorcery is this?!

Camera sensor size looks like it might be a very capable camera. Not a product for everyone but definitely interesting.

What's the point of an all-screen phone if I can't see the back when looking at the front, or vice versa? Serious question

Great work from Xiaomi. It's great seeing the Chinese OEMs not afraid trying out new concepts such as this, motorized pop-up camera, under display fingerprint, etc.

Just because it looks interesting doesn't mean it's useful. I'd love to hear about any practical reasons you can think of to have a screen you won't be looking at half the time (or more)

Good on Xiaomi for stirring the imagination, but this one seems a bit too much like a pizza with the filling spread all the way around including the crust and bottom.

That camera works as follows:

As with other recent high-resolution Samsung sensors, pixels are combined into 2x2 squares for better light sensitivity in low light, which in this case will produce 27-megapixel images.

So it more or less a 27MP camera, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Lmao this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. There's "innovating" to give customers something that makes their life easier, and "innovating" total gimmicks like this so that your phone looks sick as hell in the movie theatre when you pull it out and the people next to you explode buckets.

will not purchase, next

Most ridiculous award of 2019 still goes to notch screen and people who think they have more screen estate with left and right leftovers

This is bound to give sooo many unwanted activations of random things displayed on the opposite side.

In fact, short of using the main camera for selfies, I have no idea why this is supposed to be smart.

This phone doesn't have a notch simply because you use the back camera with the back screen. Other solutions include a mechanical sliding portion and a large front bezel (Pixel 4), both of which don't improve on Apple's solution IMO. Okay, maybe if you scrap FaceID and put TouchID under the display, but that's another discussion.

They’ve apparently spent a lot of time alleviating those issues, so they say...

Why couldn’t you just leave that to yourself instead of putting it here?....

$2,800 buys you this:

Seriously though, that's pretty cool. I hope other companies are working on designs like this, bring it down to sub $1,000 prices.

Samsung currently has cases for the Note and S10 that have a simple LED grid in them. They'll light up with an icon when a message/call comes in. Imagine having this face down and you get simple triage notifications like a WearOS watch.

I think this phone looks stunning. I also think it looks completely impractical.

I wonder if MR has the fortitude to put this up as an article.

It was yanked off the front page of every popular website.

Someone powerful does not like this design.

And this thread got merged with lots of replies lost.

Plenty of useless articles about the awful Samsung Fold are fine it seems...
