For whatever reason I cannot get the auto iCloud backup to work on my new XS Max. Worked fine on my 7+ but not now.

Plenty of space left on iCloud. Tried logging out of and back into iCloud. I removed all previous phone backups on iCloud. Of course its connected to local wifi, screen locked and AC powered.

Any ideas?

This has happened to me before on an iPhone 6 with an older OS. It seemed to "fix itself" after a few days and started working again. It could be an iOS 12 glitch.
Try doing a manual backup first to iCloud.

Thanks. Yes I did a manual backup so I have it. Haven’t heard back from Apple on this yet.
