Any XS users feel regretful about buying such an expensive phone that most likely won’t support 5G when it starts being released next year?

I’m not feeling this way, but I’m interested to hear thoughts on this.

No. The so-called 5G that is becoming available has two issues:

1. The service available isn’t really 5G. It’s really LTE with with a fiber back-end to simulate 5G speed specifications. Additionally, for the foreseeable future all 5G phones will still use LTE for talk and mms.

2. The power requirements for 5G radios is tremendous. If you’re ticked with battery life now, it will be much worse with the new radios.

Although it's slowly changing and we are keeping them longer, phones are still essentially consumables.

Like with other electronics (or any other tech field), there is ALWAYS something on the horizon. If you always wait for the "next big thing", you will be waiting forever.

If you need/want a phone, get it. If not, wait until you do.

Look at Apples past, they’ll likely support 5G 3 years after it’s released and 2 years after most major Android manufacturers. It’s the next two generations of iPhones that need to worry about this, because Apples not gonna support it for awhile anyway.

My Xs comes ready with 600 ghz frequency. T-mobile should have a pretty spread out network in the next 4 years for me to even think about 5g.

By the time 5G is widely available and all the kinks have been resolved, it will be time to upgrade from the XS anyways.

With 4G/LTE being fast, I’d rather the networks sort that for better coverage and experience, there’s still a lot of places that suffer poor signal, so I think the time/money would be better spent on perfecting 4G/LTE

everytime new radio technology becomes available I'm in awe at how it's presented as if what we currently use is so slow it's not usable. i can't even imagine how fast true 5G might be. i feel like LTE is QUICK. 3G to 4G was huge but not 4G to LTE but maybe because they were so close in speeds already

Nope. I'll use my Xs for 12 months & get the iPhone 11 next September. No network in the UK will be supporting 5G in 12 months time anyway.

Aren’t we getting upwards of 1Gbps with current LTE Advanced? I truly can’t imagine what would make a significant change in how we use our iPhones with 5G.

Honestly I don’t even care about 5g. It took like 3 years for me to be able to get lte signals where I’m at. So by the time my area has it, I’ll be ready for an upgrade and it will work out well.

No remorse whatsoever for me. 5G in a mobile device is overkill until they figure out real applications for it 4+ years down the road. By that point I'll be ready to upgrade.
