I just noticed this today but it may have been going on for a few days. What I noticed is that the video is a lot brighter but it goes back to normal when I shrink it from full-screen. I think that it's still doing HDR but only in the YouTube window.
I did not see an option to turn off HDR but I didn't look that hard.
I actually don't really need HDR as a lot of the stuff I watch is more podcast-oriented and I mostly just listen to it.
But this would explain why YouTube is using more battery than in the past.
