Resolved Apple trade in gave me more than they quoted

So I noticed that Apple gave me more for my trade in than they quoted. When I did the maths, it turns out they gave me the amount they quoted plus sales tax on that amount. I thought that seemed kinda strange that they would give me back the sales tax. Is that normal? I’m not complaining, I just never heard of this before.

I think only in certain states is this required.

Normal. It’s no different than trading in your car. You don’t pay tax on the full purchase price. You get charged tax on the purchase price minus the trade in value.

Happened with mine as well. Offered $790 for my 12PM and got $840 due to tax.

After I sent in my phone, I want to say it took like a week.

Same for me. They gave me taxes on top of trade in.
