Is there anyway to change the color of the battery icon. I can’t see the number without kissing the phone.

Not the way you're hoping, unfortunately.

On iOS 14 you can make it worse if you go to Settings / Accessibility / Display & Text Size and enable "Classic Invert".

The same menu has a "Colour Filters" feature - the "Greyscale" option makes the battery icon easier to read but causes the entire screen to be in greyscale.

For some changing the wallpaper behind the battery to white will make the text in the battery easier to read. The actual battery and text colors don't change - some eyes just find that combination easier to read on a white background.

Thank you. Horrible design to say the least but I appreciate your feedback.

Looks like you’re charging it which turns the icon green. Are you still having issues when you’re not charging in which case it’s white with the numbers being dark?

Additionally - When battery is charging you should get battery level info on top of Lock Screen for few seconds after waking up phone (by raising or taping screen depends on settings)

About UX - you are right, these numbers are barely visible when charging.
