Hello. Is there any way I can downgrade my 13P from iOS 16.6.1 to any version of iOS 15? Or am I too late for this?

Unfortunately downgrading isn’t possible at this point. I’d update to 16.7 though while it’s still an option. I’ve heard that iOS 17 is generally improved, but wait a few dot releases (maybe 17.2 or .3) and see what the consensus is

You could upgrade to iOS 17 now to see if that works any better...and if you think it's worse, then downgrade back to iOS 16 while the signing window is still open. At this point, it might be a bit of a gamble though as they could end up closing it anytime soon now.

This is one of the reasons why I update right away...so I have a week or so to test things out and can downgrade back to the previous version if needed. FWIW, I don't have any issues with iOS 17 on my iPhone 13, but never did with iOS 16 either.

iOS 17 does feel faster (compared to 16). Battery life is pretty much the same. I have found some minor bugs in it, but nothing too bad.

I am on 16.6.1. So all the versions up until this one couldn’t fix the notifications glitch. I can replicate this even with the 14 series. (Swipe up to check the notification and hold the finger on the screen until the transition is finished). I am curious if the iOS 17 still has this

I believe iOS 17 still hasn’t fixed the Notification Center bugs unfortunately

I have a feeling that iOS 16 downgrade will no longer be signed by Sept 28 2023 for A12 Bionic devices and newer... Just upgrade to the latest available iOS 16 update or select Developer Beta to be able to upgrade OTA to iOS 16.7 since iOS 16.6.1 is the last update for A12 Bionic and newer...

Do you have a specific reason for the downgrade?

I have the opposite problem. Happily running 15.7.1 on my 13 mini. Now I am thinking about upgrading to 16.6.1 before Apple closes this option. Need a stable, rock solid version as this is my business phone. What are your thoughts?

If I was you I wouldn't do it.
1. If you keep your finger on the lock screen by mistake on iOS 15 nothing happens. If you hold it on iOS 16 it automatically goes into wallpaper customisation.
2. Every time you restart your iPhone, the transitions are smooth. But on iOS 16, there are frame drops after you enter the pass code. Maybe this is not a bug for many people if they don't restart the phone. To me this is the only time is happening.
3. The notifications are coming from the bottom. And if they go into notification centre, reveling them might cause the glitch I showed in a previous post above.
4. No more live wallpaper.
5. Apps open slower. Not measurable, but my muscle memory can feel it.
As other guys advice me here, wait for a stable version of iOS 17. That may be released on September 15th 2024 :))
PS. The battery on 16.6.1 is fine for me. Also the signal strength.

Thank you @ph.rei for your helpful comments. Will stay on iOS 15 for the moment. No features except Continuity Camera are enticing on the 16 or 17 version.

Yeah, the notifications glitch is still there (iOS 16.6.1) even for the iPhone SE3. It is one of the first things I noticed with iOS 16, as I just upgraded from iOS 15.7. I wonder if Craig, Tim or Mr. Ternus use iPhone, because it is hard to not notice it.

However... I can only speak good things about this version, maybe because I didn't experience iOS 15 on this device. For me it is buttery smooth. I made a clean install entering into DFU mode.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but after updating to iOS 16.6.1, I've felt the iPhone SE3 and my iPhone 8 very responsive and snappy. Obviously, the SE3 more than the iPhone 8, but you get my point. Maybe it is because I set those devices into DFU/restore mode, and restored them using my Mac, performing a clean install. My experience, so far, is that iOS 16.6.1 is rock solid. But maybe this is because the SE3 has a lower resolution and it it easier to move the UI? I don't know.

Go with 16.7, its rock solid.

16.6.1 has better battery life than 16.7, it‘s comparable to 15.7.1. iPhone 13 Mini here.
But sadly, iOS 16.6.1 is no longer signed. So it’s not possible to install it.

That’s why I spread the word about this version while it was still being signed by Apple.

EDIT: just read that OP is already on 16.6.1
