Ultimately, AirTags aren't expensive (under $30 & often less with discounts / sales online etc.) for the potential service they provide. (Even the battery last a year or more)I've been trying to figure out how Air Tags are useful for the general public. I can see how it would be useful for some who do constantly lose things, but otherwise, the utility of this product seems pretty slim. Perhaps Apple is using this technology to improve an unreleased technology or use? ;-)
Yes, Air Tags are pretty cool, but in many ways it seems like for the general public it's a gimmick in which people might try to intentionally "lose" something in order to "find" them using their phone. ;-)
Attach to keys or toss in a bag or luggage & forget about it. Should you need it, it's just a simple additional backup plan.
There's plenty of stories online about how people were able to find misplaced items quickly with AirTags.
Samsung has Smarttags, Tile has been around for while...they are all just extra (inexpensive) accessories that can assist IF you happen to need them. With AirTags there's no app or signing up for anything, just connect it & go.
