Resolved How do I migrate iMessages from old Mac to new Mac without iCloud?

SOLUTION: Rebooted the new Mac after copying the Messages folder content to the new MacBook Pro.

In the process of moving on from my 2010 MacBook Pro to a 2021 MacBook Pro M1 running Monterey.

Trying to figure out how to move my iMessages from the old mac to the new mac.

Set up the M1 as a fresh system and did not use any migration utility.

I do not use iCloud Messages.

Made a backup of my home directory to an external hard drive.

Copied the ~/Library/Messages folder to the new MacBook Pro but no joy.
