How to merge 2 APFS partitions

Hello guys,

I have a 2tb SSD with one 500gb partition (Big Sur system), and a 1.5gb with no data in it. How can I join them into one?

I don't think merging is possible, but have you tried deleting the empty 1.5 TB partition (I'm assuming that's what you meant with 1.5gb) and then resizing the 500 GB partition to take up the free space?
