Only a 370K download on my iPad Pro so not a full RC? Also the text in software update says it is Beta 5.

Edit: sorted, see below. Sorry for creating confusion.

Were you running b4 prior? I am showing that Beta 5 was released on July 10th, according to Apple's Dev site. It is possible that your phone will receive beta 5, then you will see the RC. The RC should be the full update andd not have "Beta" in the name.

You were right. It seems my iPad was still on beta 4 as I had only updated my iPhone last time. Surprised that I was offered beta 5 rather than the RC though.

Hard to say why you were not offered the RC directly. I would think that it does not matter but given how it was just released, maybe simply throttling, or that for whatever reason, the update path required something that was either a production buid, or greater than beta 4 on the beta channel.

With Apple, it really is hard to tell, I can only guess.

Sounds about right. One thing to note though, the development team most likely has most of their attention with iOS 17 at this point, I am not surprised if old iOS 16 bugs get skipped just by this factor alone.

What’s the bug if you don’t mind me asking?
dynamic island unlock animation bug when any application that is blocked by face ID is unlocked, the iPhone hangs on a blank screen for a second and only after that it enters. sometimes it freezes so that you have to exit completely from the application and enter in again. But if the dynamic island is active with music or a timer or animation of charging or airpods, then unlocking is fast and normal, and if it is not active, it freezes. this happens on all applications, such as whatsapp, telegram, google drive.

Thanks. Just checked mine on 16.6 and it’s fast and doesn’t hang at all.

I am still experiencing the Dock crashing when using Stage manager - if anything it seems to be happening more often than on 16.5. Is anyone also seeing the Dock just randomly disappearing (not sliding out, but just blinking out of existence) for a second or so at a time a few times per hour?
