OpenCore Legacy Patcher Upgrade Stuck on "Remote Debugger Connection" while upgrade to Monterey

Hello all I have an Apple iMac 27" Late 2013 Quad Core. I've previously (late last year) used OCLP to upgrade from Catalina to BigSur. Which I've been with no issues. From yesterday I am in the process of upgrading to Monterey using OCLP (0.5.2).

The install appeared to be going well (though I had 5 auto reboot instead of 3 during install) until the last reboot, the progress bar just hangs around the 30% mark and does not go any further. I've left it for hours with no progress, and also tried restarting the install still to arrive at the same point.

Note i have restarted the install 3 times already with the same outcome. Find attached screen shot for context.

The last message is not relevant, the first ones are. You need to disable SIP for the kexts to be loaded properly.

It’s in the second link from Apple, csrutil disable in Terminal in Recovery or booting from a bootable installer, and hope that OpenCore doesn’t overwrite it.

Try to start in Safe Mode.
"Safe Mode can be entered by holding Shift+Enter when selecting macOS Monterey in OCLP's Boot Menu."
https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/BOOT.html

Boot into Recovery
"By default, the patcher will try to hide extra boot options such as recovery from the user. To make them appear, simply press the Spacebar key while inside OpenCore's Picker to list all boot options."

Ok i taken the plunge. I purchased an external SSD drive and did a fresh install on to the external drive. I now have Monterey running off the external drive and have access to my old data in internal drive. Once i've copied all data i need over to my new SSD i'll repurpose the old drive.
Glad i got there in the end.

Having this "Waiting for remote debugger connection" problem too, on a Mac Pro 3,1 with 2 cards a
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 4GB (flashed? i tried anyway) and a flashed AMD Radeon RX 460/560 2GB
Did a clean install of Monterey. Everything seemed fine till I used migration assistant (my mistake) to move over only files and pics - no apps. Tried re-installing OS 12 but it still sticks. Have tried everything i could think of - too many to list. ???

What can I do? Any ideas? All help immensely appreciated - thanks.

Yes, Thanks. This was one of the first things I tried (maybe 5 to 7 attempted installations ago) it's been a while so will try that again, now. I've also tried disabling SIP as you suggested above - no luck - though I didn't go thru every option cos of the warning. Is there another specific option [see pic] I should try???

Last night I did another couple of clean installs the last time even wiping both the SSD and the USB drives, trashing the OpenCore download and starting over with a new download etc.

Allow all.

You could also try another OCLP version, there are reports about 0.4.11 working better in some instances https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/sip-difference-using-oclp-0-4-11-and-0-5-1.2371563/

0.5.3 = same result or error message, and resetting NVRAM and SMC did not help either. Will try again tomorrow.

No change after using 0.4.11 (w/csrutil disable, in Terminal) except haven't been able to trigger the same verbose logging, via safe mode. Now it almost seems like I'm in a type of 'boot loop' since I cannot now see the error message.

The reason for installing Monterey was a random reboot problem, which required reinstalling Catalina. Probably better go back to doing that. DK? :/

I can't even get my iMac to even **TAKE** an install (except occasionally I could get MountainLion or Mavericks to install, but could never get past there). It's not even MacOS-only, it fails around 1/3 of the way through a Fedora 39 install. New SSD, new memory, cleaned the fans, put in new thermal paste, this machine is proving itself to be a piece of s**t.
But when an OCLP install failed part way through with a debug-enabled installer, I have *NOT* been able to get rid of their debugger at all. Even deleting EVERY SINGLE EFI boot entry and putting in a rEFInd EFI boot manager, this machine is completely and utterly fubarred.
Can't even get a working recovery boot to disable SCP, or find a way to DISABLE whatever script OCLP manage to bury in a completely inaccessible location. I tried looking for the debug log that their debugger was *supposed* to create, but that doesn't exist either.
So maybe do one more NVRAM reset, and aftert that it's time to pull the guts out of it and take Mr Sledgehammer to the mainboard and turn it into a display-only/monitor (or install my rPi4 inside the housing)

Maybe, just ***MAYBE*** if they told us what the "remote debugger connection" was waiting for we could debugger it. As for now it's apple and company sticking their middle fingers in your face.
