Is there a way to 'force' the open file dialog to be wider.
A lot of my files are long names, and EVERY time I open one I have to stretch the divider to read the full name.
Why can't this stay where I stretched it to last time it was opened......

Which view are you using in the Open File screen? You have to choose it in that screen. I use List view and it retains that view in whichever app I use it. I can fully see longer file names in that view as well. Column view, however, doesn't retain sliding the first column open wider.

And even though my default Finder view is List view, the Open File screen displayed column view until I changed it.
