I opened Safari and found this on Apple's homepage. I immediately clicked on over to MacRumors but couldn't find anything. Just thought I'd let y'all know.:)

Pearson to Acquire PowerSchool
Apple and Pearson today announced an expansion of their relationship to enhance teaching and learning through technology. Pearson will acquire PowerSchool, Apple’s award-winning student information systems (SIS) division, and develop educational content for teachers and students compatible with iPod.

Could this perhaps signal a shift away from the education market for Apple?

Yes and no. This divestiture allows Apple to concentrate on its core compentencies. As part of the agreement, Pearson will develop educational materials for distribution via iPod. I think that Apple's sale of PowerSchool to Pearson is a win for Pearson, whose core business is education. This deal will accelerate the adoption of the iPod as an education tool, which is very much a win for Apple.
