Definitely not very tech savvy when it comes to alternative ways of connecting things, so I told my grandson I’d ask here.

If he buys a computer monitor, and wants to connect his switch to it, what would be necessary? Does he need a mouse and keyboard (it will be the monitor ONLY, not a computer at this time).

Any help is appreciated!

You just need a monitor with an HDMI port and some way to get sound if the monitor doesn't have built in speakers (not all do). Sometimes monitors will have a headphone jack you can connect to headphones (or speakers) but you can also get things like HDMI audio extractors off Amazon for like $20 that will let you break out the sound from the HDMI cable and pass it out to speakers.

Otherwise it should operate like a TV, sans remote control usually. But most monitors will turn on/off automatically if they detect a signal so its not a big deal.
