anything other than during totality it will be really bright things next to really dark things, which will blow out the image, so you're likely to just see a bright blob. and not the defined shadow you're probably hoping to see.
You'll be focusing sunlight directly on the camera sensor. which depending on focal length could conceivably do damage.
It's not a gamble I would take with a several thousand dollar piece of gear
All of the video and images you've seen of past eclipses have used a camera lens with a filter similar to what's in the eclipse glasses.
