Just wanted to post some pictures of Ventura I have running in a UTM virtual machine, with functional Clock and Weather apps, and a new About This Mac page. Real Mac is running Monterey 12.4.

If you're wondering, I had YouTube in the back to test the sound - it works flawlessly!

Thanks for posting the pics. What's with the plus in the upper right corner in the Clock app? Is it possible to have multiple timers?

thanks

It's for adding other cities to the World Clock tab. You can add and remove cities by clicking the "x" when you hover over a clock. Alarm, the plus button creates a new alarm. For the stopwatch and timer, the plus button is grayed out.

Here's what it looks like:

Let me know if you want me to test/show you anything else.

Sounds crazy, but excited they added the timer to the Mac. So many of the commercial ones are over engineered resource hogs. I use timers for studying.

Anything in Shortcuts for the Timer? Start, stop, pause maybe?

Thanks again!

Yes, you can create a shortcut that starts the timer from the Clock app. There are also prebuilt ones, but those might have already been there in Monterey.

First screenshot = timer from Clock app shortcut

Second screenshot = prebuilt ones

Hi, how did you get Ventura on UTM? Can you share instructions

I'm going to make a video on how I did it later tonight with in-depth instructions (I don't know the rules on posting your own content, etc. on this forum, so you might have to find it yourself if you want my in-depth instructions), but here's the short version:
  1. Create a Monterey VM in UTM. It's very easy to do, all you need is an IPSW file of some version of Monterey (I used 12.0.1)
  2. Download the InstallAssistant.pkg (i.e., "Install macOS 13 beta") to the VM
  3. Run the installer, let it reboot & install to the disk
It runs very fast and everything works just as it should. Just don't expect to be running graphics-intensive programs in the VM though.

Thank you, managed to install it :).

Thanks for posting these! I haven’t seen a ton of screenshots of the new apps.

Does the Clock app icon have a moving second hand like it does in iOS/iPadOS, and if so, does it show up in both the dock and the launchpad?

No, the second hand doesn't move from what I've seen, but I also didn't watch super closely.

Heh, just came here to write instructions in case no one else had yet but you beat me to it! Just about to reboot to install Ventura now.
