I had a Iphone 5SE form 2016 until 2020 and by the time i finally got rid of that phone it used to get so hot to hold that i literally could not hold it in my bare hands.
now 2 years later my hands still burn. Does anyone else have a similar experience?????
Funny you mention this, I have an SE (Second Gen) that sometimes gets too hot to hold when I'm charging it. Yesterday I was listening to audio and web surfing on the phone while it was charging, and the phone was most definitely abnormally hot. And my phone does not even have a case on it. I closed 1-2 apps and stopped using it, then unplugged it for awhile. So you're not alone in experiencing iPhones getting painfully hot. I have never had to keep using the phone when it was too hot, so I can't say it's caused me harm. It probably would shut off before then.
What you describe reminds me of when I had compressed a disk in my neck so that the nerves were inflamed in that area. After many weeks of physical therapy, my full range of motion was restored, but the pain lingered. It was still unbearable when driving, etc. The orthopedist gave me cortisol, which instantly calmed the inflamed nerves and allowed them to heal.
I suspect your hand's nerve endings have become hyper-sensitized in a similar way and need to be calmed so that they can heal. If you can focus on preventing any more inflammation for a time - which might mean going hands-free with your phone - maybe your nerves will calm.
