in other news the german hardware sales of april:

1. Wii: 20.000
2. PS3: 16.000
3. Xbox 360: 9.500

i guess that's the result if you have a strong PC games market

the lifetime sales:

1. Xbox 360: 262.000 St.
2. Wii: 222.000 St.
3. PS3: 70.500 St.

(i guess the 360 isn't really that popular being nearly overtaken already by the Wii)

It's terribly ironic that the PS3 seems to be doing quite okay in the continent deemed not as important as US and the country of Japan.

the irony is that no console manufacturer has gotten it yet that for the german speaking market (100 millions after all) you simply have to release RTS games (especially those focused on building settlements and production lines)
i think since about 5-7 years the biggest hits always have been strategy games by far, half of the PC shelf space is made up with them

No quite, really. It's just okay. It's still less than half the PSP's weekly sales and less than the PS2's weekly sales, and probably less than the GameCube was at this time in its lifespan.

During the recent Gamers Day Event that Sony held, the company revealed the latest PSN network stats and figures. In six months since the PS3's launch, Sony now has 1.5 million users worldwide, 775,000 of those users hail from North America. Apparently, users have now downloaded six million pieces of content and have logged in over 115 million times. When compared to MS during the same six-month period after launch, the Xbox 360 had 500,000 users with either Gold or Silver memberships.
The greatest online service ever created got beat by Sony.......?

Gamecube was on a relatively close pace with PS2 during the same time period(in fact some say it was out pacing PS2 at this point), and we all know what happened there.

Price drop and games are coming, it can only get better for PS3.

Shouldn't that be=
"The greatest paid online service ever created had less connections than a free service........?"
Colour me surprised. Also, didn't Xbox Live Gold subscriptions sky rocket with Gears of War? Out of curiosity (as I don't really care much for GoW).

Remind me where online play meant anything much to a systems success. The Dreamcast had online, as did the Xbox. They didn't fare so well. Seems a bit silly of you to bring it up as it really does have nothing to do with the tea in china.

So what your saying is PSN does have advantages over Live, and is a valid reason to purchase said console........
Nice of you to QUALIFY your statement to make it sound better. ;)

re-reads every post most people have given(here at MR) to BUY A PARTICULAR CONSOLE.

"It's got more games and the best online service," gets posted here at least once a day jimmi.

Nope. I'm not saying it has advantages over Live. The only + in Sony's corner is free. Even then it remains to be seen what sort of service Sony will provide. Oh wait, they're going to charge for clothes for virtual characters to wear.

Hmm, it gets posted whenever somebody asks about either buying a console, or when the SDF get riled up because, I don't know, lack of care for the PS£ (heh, what a great typo on UK keyboards) so they feel the need to back up their system. I just give it as it is from somebody who has all 3 next gen systems within sneezing distance and has yet to spend money on 1. No investment = I've got nothing to protect.

Clearly you don't know much about phrases.

Though, and foolish me, I forgot to say earlier - The SDF go on about the PS3 getting price cuts and more games. So did every other god forsaken console. So will the Wii and 360. It needs things better than what they provide, and a price cut and more games if it want's to be taken as a serious console.

I don't understand why everyone bashes the PS3 (and PSP) so much. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is a bad system or that everyone else hates it too. So why spend so much effort to criticize it? It seems that people that bash it are just threatened by it and what it offers compared to other systems. Every system has it's own unique features and flaws. I can bash the Wii and the 360 just as much. So again, why spend so much time to bash a system? It's just like campaigning in politics. "If you don't choose the PS3, then you're an idiot."

Some people need to grow and and enjoy the system(s) they have and let others enjoy the system(s) they have.

LOL. I just posted the sales numbers is all.

Seriously though. I don't think anybody here really sees the PS3 as a threat to either the 360 or Wii. Doesn't stop you liking said system though.

Cheering for Sony is like going to a casino and cheering for the house.

Microsoft really has me torn.

They're ACTUALLY DOING A GOOD JOB. They've got a decent product worth a measure of support.

But I'm terrified by the thought of them winning because of what Microsoft historically does once they control a market. I'd rather have Sony have a 70% marketshare than Microsoft any day, but I'd also think the 360 deserves a good shot...

Like the product, hate the company.

I used to like Sony till our hifi broke, then PS1, amplifier. My brothers PS2 broke... Used to like the products, now avoids the products :D
Yea the 360 and it's f/w and the software side of things is great. I just wish it had a killer game that would bring me in because right now it's doing little more than what my PC can do. Only Castlevania: SotN is pulling me in

I had a problem my 360 when it scratched disks (when they didn't admit that it did) and they wouldn't accept it for repair. I then sent it for repair, telling them I had the red-lights problem (I even went to their site for it while on the phone in order to give the right answers to get them to take it in for repair) and it came back fixed :)

:) Not really, because I'm not cheering for any company. Give me an S! Give me an O! Give me an N! Give me a Y! GO SONY!!! :p
But I would agree with Coded-Dude, cheering for Microsoft would be more like cheering for the house.

Why? Because MS have done a good job making a well recieved platform, with the greatest online setup of any console, with wireless AND rumbling controllers, with so many bonuses for upcoming developers. Oh and by not sticking in a redundant format (Take out the BR drive, price it next to the 360 Premium then we'll talk) to make the system cheaper to the consumers. Well gee, that's shouting for the house :D ;)

Whereas Sony have shot themselves in the foot time and time again. Their PR machine is at it again too, one of the new PR guys saying "Only real games choose Sony" :D these guys really should be writing for The Office.

And I avoid the products to save myself money. Quite wise really. X brand gets a name for shoddy hardware quality, avoid X brand. Absolute total logic if I don't want to buy the same thing twice. Hell I'm putting off getting my own 360 till they fix the Ring of Death problems! Even my PSP arrived with some kind of horrific ghosting that made 2D and racing games unplayable.

Here's a crazy idea, why not call out the people who start the whole comparison thing in the first place, I just posted the sales numbers and respond to what others say. I get tired of the SDF bringing up nonsense that results in the same answers time and time again. Maybe they should put up post-it notes?
