Curious to know how others approach this. Me, I always wait for the first incremental update to save myself the trouble I've occasionally had in the past.

Feel free to post and motivate your choice, and to prevent the thread from sinking.

Thanks & happy updating, whenever (if) you do!

Yes and no.. My old Air 3 and 8 plus Will get IOS 15 for now. My primary devices (SE 2020) and Air 4 wil not get it before I’m sure its works fine on my Air 3 and 8 plus.

Waiting until I get home, hoping to be past the initial server bog down.
Also triggering it on one phone and allowing my Mac Mini to cache the update before I do the rest of the family's iPhones.

Does anyone know if/when upgrading to iOS 15 on an iPhone 11 Pro Max if it will slow down the device at all and/or drain the battery more than usual? So paranoid/hesitant to update the iOS these days with Apple's history of how iOS updates negatively impact device performance on older models. Ugh. ?

well, does the OTA fixes still work? probably not, the only way to not go crazy because of update nags is to take ownership over your money and not buying the product in the first place... the question is just, how much extra battery will the update eat and how much slower will my unit be?

Not that it’s any guarantee for you of course, but iOS 14 set a new standard with actually improving performance on older iPhones. After lots of initial hesitation I finally put it on my then 4 years old iPhone 7 Plus, and it actually made it considerably more snappy. And it still is today. So I’m anticipating iOS 15 being the same in that regard.

I didn’t know much about iOS 15 going in. I think this is the best update to iOS ever. Especially iPadOS

Do you really have to do that? I thought I set up my iPhone 12 Pro Max last year by restoring a backup made on my iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 13. But now that I write this I’m not sure anymore…

Yes I did. Huge mistake as I hate iPadOS 15. They screwed up the Home pages with 6 x 5 icons again, and made the widgets a POS. Safari blows chunks. None of the updates are anything I really care about. And it seems like editing is even more buggy than 14.8. I should have waited…

I wait a few days. After about 48 hours, you get a feel for how buggy the .0 version is and how widespread the problems are. Then you can decide to wait for .1 or not.

Some years it seems like there are minor problem that don't affect many users. Other years there are broader problems on more critical function that have people begging for the .1 update.

I'll wait and see.

Not right now. I’m waiting for my iPhone 13 Pro to get here to use it. I want that to be my first experience with iOS 15.

Was going to wait… but then I didn’t. I usually try to wait like I do for OS X updates. I’m much more successful with the computers than the iOS devices.

there
i promised that i'd be sticking with 14 and maybe get a surface go
until i saw this feature:

Adjust video playback speed

then found out now Mojave won't support Safari 15 so what is the use or reason now?
