I probably will be. I may drag a WinBloze loving friend up there.

Count Me In

I'll either be in Clarendon or Tyson's Corner, one of the two. Can't wait! If they are unpacking a new hardware product, chances are it ISN'T the new PowerMacs. Those went up the day after they were announced. So it might be something else, who knows?

Well, i'm off to work for my last week at my current job - soon I'll be in Cupertino, training to be a Mac Genius! :)

Isn't it odd that there seem to be very few active online Mac community members from the area? All the Motorola employees use Wintel

I'm still debating about it. I'm sort of an "early to bed, early to rise" type person. However, I did also want to go and look at a Brenthaven Mobility Ti case for my Powerbook....

I will be at the Jaguar release party... I am thinking that about half or a quarter the amount of people that showed up for the grand opening will be there (read: Still LOTS).

As a guy who worked at compUSA for the win95 release, I have to say that if apple DOESNT give out stuff and only raffles them, I will be sorely dissappointed. Our compUSA gave away SCADS of new computers etc that night. And, I dont believe it will be a raffle per'se due to the laws of the state. I would think that it would be a "drawing" rather that you get a ticket when you walk in, and at the end of the night, they read off the numbers (and you would have to be present to win).

I work that night, but I plan on asking my boss if I can cut out a few minutes early, and hit the road. I think that its gonna be a madhouse...

Anyhow, see all you illinois people in friday night. :)

I'm going to Woodfield too. How early do you think we should be there? Is it 10:00pm ok? Anyway, I guess I'll see you there, I'll be wearing a pair of jeans and an Apple t-shirt :D

If you are in the Minneapolis/St Paul region, you can save $30 on Jaguar and attend a 10:20 Sale. First Tech , an Apple Specialist, is hosting a 10:20 event and is giving a special "upgrade" price on Jaguar. They are selling it for $109 on Friday night and all day Saturday.

apparently there are a few of us, though I'd almost like a guarantee of a new tibook in exchange for a drive out to the burbs. bleh. Really, I'm considering the trip. Is that the hellish mall by the IKEA and the constantly clogged toll plazas?

That's correct. Right next to IKEA. You gotta take I-90 all the way to road 53 and exit there. Be prepared for traffic, hellish toll booths and road constructions almost all the way there.

Why the fock doesn't apple have a store in Michigan Ave?!?!?

well... if we look at north and south merrick as east and west germany, i guess my house would be the berlin wall... right between sunrise highway and merrick road... THE GABLES...

built buy 20th Century Fox before the depression hit, The Gables were to be used as low cost housing developments for actors working on projects in new york...

myself being a die-hard film buff (and cinematic genius) my goal is to restart that project by getting rid of that STUPID ****ING PRESERVE behind my house, and making it into the coolest backlot ever to hit long island... well the only backlot ever to hit long island...

yeah, so long story short i'm from central merrick.

i just got an email from apple about this, they say that i have a chance to win a new imac... does this mean each store is only giving away 1 imac or what? i don't want to go the 2 hours just for a 1 in 50 chance to win an imac...

I think of the many nights I wandered around soho (when I lived there) after a load of drinks having some of the best times of my life --surrounded by culture, art, music, models and other hipsters-- and compare that to memories of my mom taking me to by garanimals before the start of school at the local mall where I grew up. Yeah malls are so f***ing cool. Let's go gaze at all the eminem and nsync wannabes.

der, buy

finally

My bet is that the special event is actually my computer finally shipping. With a wait this friggin long it better come with some fanfare. Apparently Apple can't handle build-to-order, it's just a little too tricky for them to master.

Party?

I don't know about the other stores, but the party in Tampa was pretty lame. We were in line for 2 hours, and there wasn't anything for those waiting in line. Even once you got inside, it wasn't any different than just going to the Apple store any other time, except more people. I mean, the store is cool, and yes they did register us for a 17" iMac, and have 10% off anything you buy at the same time as Jaguar or a new Mac, but I wanted a party! That's what they advertised!
Oh well.

Anyone else have the same experience?

I had the same experience at roosevelt field. Although it was kinda fun. i didnt buy anything that night, but since i bought my 17" iMac the night before, he sales rep gave me a mousepad and teeshirt, so it was worth it:)

as for a party...

i stopped at an apple reseller in maryland on my way to the official apple store (clarendon) for the jaguar thing.... my brother and i entered the store... and a girl greets us, and hands us raffle tickets (still at the apple reseller). then i notice, she's wearing a hooters outfit. name tag and all..... i was like " what the #$#%#$?!" and also, they were playing the electric slide and there were all these middle aged geeks dancing like they knew how (which they didn't, not that i do)... it was funny as crap.

but the place was small and i got out of there as quick as i could.... blah
