Beats X headphones suddenly make no sound on my MBP 10.9.5

It was working fine with my MBP for the first few months and then all of a sudden it stopped maybe a month or two ago. Possibly because of an automatic firmware update on the headphones. It pairs and the MBP shows it is connected, but sound doesn't come through the headphones. You can even hear some white noise, but that's it. I tried re-pairing, restarting MBP and headphones, to no avail. The Beats X works fine with my mac mini on High Sierra and my iOS devices, and it was working fine with my MBP beforehand, and I'm pretty sure nothing has changed on the MBP since, so I think it's a compatibility issue between Mavericks and the Beats X firmware.

Anyone else on Mavericks and the newest Beats X firmware (7.0.3)? Issues?
