These laptops in the current economic climate are just not moving. I wonder if the delay in launching ipads is connected to the fear of terrible sales for new models. It could make for disappointing reception for otherwise excellent tablets… that are likely to do exactly the same things as current gen.

It just depends on what you purchase. I have the total tech which is $179.99 a year in my case it is worth it.

I got $150 off the MacBoook Air 15" M3. The $179.99 covers apple care for two years.
I also dont have to spend any extra this year for my 3 Phones, or 3 ipads, or my 2 apple watches, or my wifes MacBook Pro. I will have to spend $179.99 next year to keep the Apple Care valid.

Do you say the same thing about Costco and Sam's Club membership fees "just to save a few bucks"? No one pays for a Costco membership just to save a few bucks on a pack of toilet paper ONE TIME.

BB's Total membership programs aren't designed for the one-time buyer. I've personally saved over a $1000 on just AppleCare+ memberships for all sorts of Apple gear over the past year. Not to mention extra savings on many items, plus 60 day return privilege.

The scale and depth of the sale is key. Sometimes companies have sales to steal sales from other companies. Then they have huge sales just to move stock thats not moving.

We would have to really look at the data to know which it is. But the depth (% discount) of the sale at the moment has been huge. Ive never seen so many huge discounts everywhere for a variety of goods. Almost all the companies ive signed up with are bombarding me hard with steep discounts on everything.

And this coincides with a cost of living crisis and historically high interest rates in the west.

That was my take as well. Just traded in a 2018 13" MacBook Pro ($475) towards a base M2 Air ($849) for my spouse. $444 was total difference with tax for a more powerful machine, runs much cooler.

I would think there would be more support here on macrumors for yearly discount fees. I mean, here BestBuy is offering a program that is designed to lock you into their store and the Best Buy ecosystem. Isn't that what everyone thinks is best?

yep, these deals are great for casual users. If you need more RAM, then you are screwed paying Apple's high prices. At this point, 16GB should be standard as 512gb for storage for base models. Greed, greed....
