From the time the apple logo came on to the time the phone rebooted, 42 seconds. 7 more sections following that for my phone to "search" for a single until I got one.

I did it again. Power + home button. Started timer when I saw the Apple logo.
10:10 44s
10:11 27s

Found single 5 seconds following. I used time.gov as my timer.

Started the timer when Apple logo came on, stopped timer when lock screen appear. Did 4 time boot up

1. 2 minutes and 40 seconds
2. 2 minutes and 25 seconds
3. 2 minutes and 36 seconds
4. 2 minutes and 24 seconds

So in average, it is around 2 minutes and 30 seconds for iPad 3. This is even slower than Windows 8 boot on 5400RPM laptop...

There you go again complaining. It doesn't matter that it's slower than a Windows 8 laptop. This is still in beta! It'll be fixed by the GM.

Is this complaining. It is telling what I am experienced. The fact is that thing slower than Windows 8 and it doesn't matter if future beta will be better. The fact is this beta boot slower... why are you so sensitive?

Maybe i should replace Windows 8 by same in beta os x mavericks. Maybe that will make you happy

I shot a video, I consistently get the same results within a few seconds.
I can upload it later if you think I'm FOS. Hell, with your times, I'd think I was FOS as well.

iPhone 4S, VZW. I'm on wifi too, if that counts. OTA update, as with all betas after the initial.

Reverted back to beta, now iPad 3 consistently boot around 27 to 30 second,I have no idea why beta 5 takes this long to boot

I've got an iPhone 5 OTA wifi on or off gives me the same fast boot up. I've tried a hard restart and regular on/off.

So this is strictly your iPad?
I don't have the beta on my iPad 3.

Sorry, there is a typo. Reverted back to beta 4...Beta 4 boots around 27 to 30 seconds... Beta 5 however, take consistent 2:40 to boot

Just tested with iPad mini similar... But iPhone 4S takes lesser time to boot around 90 seconds,

My iPhone 5 with OTA Beta 5 booted within 28-32 seconds on a series of 5 boot time tests.

Clean restore beta 5 on iphone 5 and boot time +/- 25 sec... after adding apps + music + tones boot time now in excess of 2 minutes.... beta 5 obviously not happy with component(s) within app/music/tones.... hopefully issue will be resolved with beta 6... for now back on 6.1.4 and all back to normal..... pity......

How many times would u want to restart your iPhone or iPad on a daily basis ?

Answer is rarely.

And apple will definitely take care of this bug in next update.

Serious question:

Why are people concerned about this?

How often does anyone turn off their iPhone or iPad?

Say you do it twice a month, and that’s being extremely generous, why does it matter that it takes 2 minutes instead of 1?

I agree with your comment 100%

BUT the point is there is a flaw in beta 5 that needs to be attended to.

I am sure this will be rectified with beta's to come.

I have to turn my phone off twice a day monday to friday so it's very annoying but hopefully it gets fixed in the next beta

I was having the same problem. I did a little investigation and here is what I found :
When Password Lock is turned OFF it took me about 3 mins to Boot Up.
When Password Lock is turned ON it took just about 30 seconds.

Im not sure if this bug is only in beta5 or previous beats as well.
Anyone reply me if you are getting similar results.

It works. I tried it twice and both times it was down to 20 seconds.

I did a clean install of beta 2 and have OTA'd every update since...

First boot on beta 5: Roughly 3 minutes

Second boot: 29 seconds

Third boot: Roughly 3 minutes

I'm sure it'll clear up. I'm not restoring until the GM anyways, so I can deal.
