Hey all, I've been wondering how people display their collections.
I've got a couple of the Ikea display cabinets, but as the collection grows, it's becoming ungainly... The official apple docks are also quite expensive and the older ones only let you show your device with the front size, while I want to show the iPhones and iPod Touches backside (since the front is almost always just a boring display). Also, the docks for the shuffles include the cable which makes it messy...
Any hits and/or pics of how you guys do it?

These are my current “daily drivers” when it comes to iPods (yes I know that sounds weird in 2022 to talk about using iPods as daily drivers) but I listen to the nano 3rd gen and the 2nd gen around the house, and the 7th Gen and the iPod touch second gen outside or with wireless buds and yeah they all have different playlists on them and the batteries are surprisingly still fine lol

I purchased a bag of assorted wood blocks from Amazon and have gone for a sort of organic tiered approach. The products that can stand on their own I let stand, those that need to be leaned are leaned. I also have a black ‘ledge’ shelf that works well for some additional devices. Mostly just kept it simple

I keep checking eBay every now and then to see if something shows up for my collection. Today I noticed a madonna limited edition being on sale. The price though... phewwww... guess I'll never own those limited editions...

Yeah, people still do, but this forum has gone pretty quiet the last couple of years. Where are you from? USA? Europe? I'm in Europe... In my experience the best way to find like-minded collectors is to scout local second hand websites and start talking to someone if you notice it's not the first time they have iPods for sale :)

Hello friends,
I am contacting you with a question about the Ipad Touch.
I have one unpacked at home (see photo)
I am not a collector of this stuff and would like to sell it :apple:
Can you advise me where and what is the approximate price ?

Thank you and have a nice day :)

Jiri

Without proper validation that it's not just a repacked one you can try eBay, but no idea if you'll fetch anything decent for it without any "proof" that it's never been opened.

Hello,
thank you for answer :)
I'm sure it was never unpacked.
Anyway, can you advise me where I can get a confirmation ?
I am adding another photo ;)
I'm in Europe.
Thanks

Jiri

a serial number check to show that it's never been activated and an x-ray to show that everything is inside, untampered with would do it, I suppose.

EDIT: I ran a serial number check based on the serial number visible in the picture, it seems the iPod has been activated before... Did you buy it from a store or secondhand? A decent collector will check this and suppose it's not a real one but has been resealed afterwards.

Oh jees. Maybe the OP got duped and bought a resealed iPod :(

I suppose so, yeah. He or she seemed pretty sure that it was never opened, so either
1) he or she was duped
2) he or she tries to dupe us (it is a profile made specifically to post here in the thread about a sealed iPod after all)

Hello,
sorry for not replying for a long time :)
On which page can you check by serial number whether the iPad has been activated ?
I can probably arrange an X-ray.
I'm not an iPod collector or dealer :apple:
I found this piece three years ago while clearing out a property before selling it.
And I would very much like to check whether this unpacked piece is OK.
I am in Czech Republic.

Thanks for the advice ;)

As I found out on the internet, this is written on the Unlocked website for a lot of unboxed products.
It's only activation when you scan the serial number when selling at an Apple store.
I would like to get proof that it is unwrapped ;)
I just don't know how.

Dear lord, I so want those, but they're completely out of my reach price-wise :(
They're the only apple portables from before 2012 missing in my collection... How much did you pay for them if I may ask, and maybe even more relevant: where did you find them? There was a madonna one on eBay a while back and that one was completely financially impossible for me to buy

I assume people just buy these just for collecting etc but what about the battery life considering some are 15+ years old. Will they degrade over time? Assuming many who like the packaged look will never open it or use the device. Just curious.

I bought 4 shuffles in the recent weeks, 2 new and sealed 2 used.
Only 1 if each worked even after doing a restore the other 2 do not seem to be holding a charge and are giving me all kinds of blinking lights (errors?).
