EU Passes Law to Switch iPhone to USB-C by End of 2024

Cool - good to know they've boosted the spec, though it doesn't appear to be widely adopted.

Also functionally meaningless since you're talking a 14C charge rate, several times the rate that most LiIon batteries can tolerate without damage.

You're right for this iPhone it doesn't matter but this entire discussion and what got the person focused on red car/blue jet upset was that it's a plug that has far more functionality (yes, it's the protocol not the plug) so from iPhone to laptop, same plug. That does have its advantages. And we can't assume the iPhone 10 years from now will have the same restrictions in battery chemistry.

So the EU decided. If someone doesn't live in the EU, maybe Apple will keep the Lightning connection forever in the US and people can charge at 27W and run USB 2 data speeds for the next decade+.

Boo yah. Nothing wrong with lightning. I’m not saying the USB C is bad but being forced to change is not good.

I suppose if USB C is what its going to be then do it. I don't think its going to really make all that much difference it does look like a better outlet.
