It is for the latest High Sierra Security Update (17G13033)

Top left :apple:, then click on Version to reveal your current Number

EVERY security update changes the build number. Believe 17G13035 is the latest update from June 1, 2020 and replaces 17G13033.

Forgive this possibly basic question, but is High Sierra the latest OS capable of running the nVidia web drivers?

I am wondering because I have a Mac Pro 3,1 with a Quadro M4000 installed and I'd like to move up from El Capitan which is a bit old by now.

Today I received the wifi+bluetooth card necessary for my Mac Pro 3,1 to be able to run the Dosdude1-patched High Sierra.

Forgive the probably basic question, but is there a particular procedure to install future web driver updates on such a patched system?

Wifi+Bluetooth card is not “necessary” to run dosdude1 High Sierra patch on a 3,1. All that was needed on mine, for it to function was installing antheros40.kext.

Thanks but I need wifi because the computer is two floors up from the base station.

Anyway, in case it is of interest, the patched High Sierra installation seems to have messed up my El Capitan installation (which on a separate drive) and broken the video driver. I get no video on my Quadro card either on High Sierra or on El Capitan.

Just sold my GTX 1070 (flashed) Downgraded to an RX 580. Actually not too bad with OpenCore and HW Accel.

So there will still be two ways to keep making use of NV-cards with HS after that:
- using the OS-version-independent driver 387.10.10.15.15.108
- just stop installing HS "security"-updates

:)

October/November 2020 will likely be the last security update for High Sierra 10.13, however there are occasionally supplemental additional releases that address issues or fix compatibility. NVIDIA has provided updated web drivers for these situations in prior OS versions, usually several days after initial release.

There will be some trickles of OS updates for at least another year, just not frequent. Usually all change build number and NVIDIA will release a new driver, just like they have for previous OS version updates after their EOL.

Certainly is getting close to the end though. If you’re still running HS in 2-3+ years as primary OS, there are likely larger issues to sort out.

2020-005 is the first security update that I'll install and I'm a bit unsure on the order in which to install the update and the new driver.

Would this be approx right?

1. Backup OS
2. Remove GPU and put in my backup, a GT120
3. Install Security Update
4. Install web driver
5. Remove GT120 and put back the non-EFI GPU.
