7100/66 a very solid choice, probably a million times better of a machine going into the mid-late 90s.
Yeah it was clearly the end of the line for Commodore at that point. A real shame. If they’d ever followed through with the AAA chipset, it could have been a serious contender. With all its custom chips, it was essential for them to stay ahead of the pack, and they just didn’t. My 7100 was quite a machine, I used to make posters with it in college, I had to run photoshop 3 with RAM doubler to get it to work. My then girlfriend, now wife, used to complain about it rendering all night. Photoshop would run, but it was damned slow with the stock RAM and ram doubler, which was required for it to even launch.
