I always liked the Surface Book… but never felt the urge to buy one. And yeah, the battery life on that was its downfall… kinda wished Microsoft stayed on that path and not pivoted to a whole new design with the Surface Studio Laptop.

And I’m guessing you are not a fan of the Surface Studio Laptop?
I didn't buy it on lauch because of the steep price ($2500), but got it in 2020 a SB2 display model for under $1200. Later in 2022 I found a SB3 in mint condition for $999. Both 15". Have and use both. The SB3 more as a laptop (amazing 3.2 screen, and keyboard), the SB2 mainly as a tablet (rarely use the base).
Battery life with the base is decent (over 7 hours, but just the tablet it little more than 1h).
No, not a fan of the SLS. Smaller screen, lower res, and above all less flexible and not detachable. Even plugged it (unlimited battery life) the tablet can have lot of uses. I use mine as a larger iPad for displaying and annotating documents next to my desktop on a tablet stand. And a put an Apple magic keyboard under it in case sometimes I want to use it as a computer. Totally silent (it has a fan but never comes on) and cool.
I do wish they made a SB4 with Snanpdragon X Elite for battery life, but that sail has shipped already...
Hopefully we'll have an iPad that size at some point...

Difference is because screens will get parity in tech
So difference will go down

Unlikely. Bigger OLED screens are exponentially more expensive.

I don’t care about the Air iPads
It’s very relevant, though. Apple has used the upsell strategy for years now. Ever notice how a Pro model is only $50 more expensive than the 256 GB air model? It’s a strategy they apply across their entire product line up. A $1200 Pro would indicate a base $900 Air as a minimum - extremely unlikely that the Air would go there.

There's been a lot of discussion re: what the new iPad Pros will cost, with early reports saying it would be a big jump for the 2024 models, and then later rumors walking it back and saying it would only be a slight increase. Plus with there likely being a 13" Air, there's another price point to consider.

What is your guess for the new lineup's price point? I'm going with:

Wi-Fi Only Models:
iPad Air (M2) 11": $599
iPad Air (M2) 13": $899
iPad Pro (M3) 11": $999 (256GB starting storage)
iPad Pro (M3) 13": $1299 (256GB starting storage)

I think new versions of Apple Pencil / Magic Keyboard stay the same price - feels like they're already bumping up against the ceiling of what consumers will tolerate, but maybe I'm just delusional.

Your thoughts?
Pretty close, just off on the 13‘ Air by $100. These prices aren’t good but it puts them in line with MacBook Air so instead of the keyboard being included you’re getting a much better display. Interesting pricing strategy.

I had expected 13 inch to cost +200 compared to 11 inch, but 1300 is roughly on the lower end of my estimate but definitely within the range
For the 11 inch I expected 999 as the bare minimum with 1100-1200 being more likely, so it’s basically good they didn’t increase much

Yeah, like I said they aren’t good prices, but considering some estimates were $500+ increase instead of the $200 that we got, it’s not as bad as I thought it might be.

Trickier to predict than I thought, to be honest.
I was fairly close! Just $100 low on the Pro 13", and $50 too high across the board for the Airs.
