So took my first video on iPhone 12 Pro filmed using HDR

Play it back on LG OLED which supports HDR and nothing.....

Anyone else feeling 8(

One reason I really wanted the new phone was for video in HDR

Mine is still syncing so I haven't tried yet but did you use Apple TV? Maybe that's why.

Its a standard HDR and dolby vision is a licensed standard which my TV fully supports....

Bloody hope it works somehow

There’s a catch. (Of course.) Dolby Vision Profile 8.4 is a new version of Dolby Vision, and that means a bunch of older Dolby Vision gear out there needs to be updated to support it. So I can’t promise you any random Dolby Vision TV with AirPlay 2 will play back iPhone 12 Pro video in Dolby Vision. You’ll have to check to see if your TV supports Profile 8.4. Dieter’s older Vizio P65 has AirPlay 2 but played back iPhone 12 Dolby Vision video in SDR. My 2016 LG B6 OLED supports Dolby Vision but not profile 8.4, and it wouldn’t play an iPhone 12 video file from a USB stick at all. It’s also old enough now that it’ll probably never get another software update to do so. And so on.

Actually iphone 12 pro and pro max are capturing 10 bit HDR with 0.7 trillions colors depth, while other phones like LG ones are doing it at 1.07 trillion. Somehow Apple got a deal with Dolby for this 8.3 profile which is just a gimmick, a super lite version of the real Dolby one and they are calling it first EVER. WELL THAT SUCKS AND IS FALSE. LG phones are doing it in 10 bit 1.07 trillion colors and also at 8K with tons of LUTS AVAILABLE built in the app. ? Thumbs down!

It took a while to get hdr working from my Sony a7iii so I feel your pain.

Does iPhone support exporting it in some other than dolby vision hdr so that you could try playback with that file?

Bahaha, right! Sony and LG, tell them to stick to household appliances

Well... Sony for example has been making all the imaging sensors for iPhone for ages.

Most of the innovation which comes from Apple is actually not made by them but in cooperation with their partners such as Sony, Lg and Samsung. Naturally the same applies other way around.

Sony does make phones, and nobody really gets them. But they do make great parts!

How did you connect the phone to the tv? If you connected via an Apple iPhone to tv HDMI cable, it may not support HDR. have you tried airplay to an Apple TV 4K?

I have an E6. It does not support 4K DV at 60fps. Did you take the video at 60fps on the phone? If so, that is why.

Same here on an LG OLED (GX) and it does support 60fps DV so it’s not that causing problems.

Airplay to an ATV 4K, same; nothing.

What format do you have the camera set at in the iPhone? High efficiency or most compatible?
