Utilize the bluetooth chip built in to allow for bluetooth streaming similar to how AirPods work. It used Bluetooth for setup and handoff, why not for streaming? I would like to see the ability to AirPlay music with out needing a WiFi connection. Maybe they can use peer to peer WiFi? It would be nice to bring a HomePod to a cabin with no internet (but phone still gets cellular reception) and play Apple Music, Spotify, or AirPlay local songs stored on the device right to the HomePod. Bonus points for being able to pair to HomePods to each other for stereo with out needing a WiFi access point/router.

As far as new hardware, I'd like to see them add an auxiliary jack in (highly unlikely), and make a portable version.
