Oh, my...I looked here to see if there was any way I could return our 5S iPhones to the blessed days before iOS 11. Sounds like it's not going to possible, so I guess I'll have to settle for ranting:

Our iPhones are running terribly slowly, there's a lag when typing; when I wake up the phone, there's a lag in reconnecting to WiFi, etc.
I've often said that software developers who write great MacOS software don't make money on upgrades because their software just keeps working. It looks like the only way for us to deal with iOS 11 is to reward Apple by buying newer iPhones. Oh, well, I guess it helps my AAPL stock value....

Your phone in all likelihood being throttled. You can load 11.3 beta 1 and unthrottle it or just wait till 11.3 is released to the public some time in the next month or so.
5s doesn’t get throttled. Only the phones released between the 5s and iPhone 8.

11.3 beta 1 does not have any way to turn off the throttling. It's due in a later beta. However, as others have said, the 5S isn't throttled the way later phones are.

I've held off on battery replacement so far....Battery Life app says my battery is 90% good. And I hate to throw good money after bad.

How do I go about a clean install?

Thank you, NowhereManNumber9. I will read up on this and maybe get my courage up to do this. Not much to lose as long as I don't kill my iCloud Backup.

You can try a clean install by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings and restoring your device.

It’s possible that it might just be “slow” because iOS 11 isn’t optimized for the 5s. You won’t get iOS 10 performance on it.

Thank you, Paddle1! Actually, part of my question is whether iOS 11 is just incompatible with the 5S, which means this is Apple's way of forcing me to buy something newer.

iOS 10.3.3 is not being signed so you couldn’t downgrade. Plus iOS 10.3.3 was never compatible with the iPhone 8. So no.

Currently I'm working with iOS 11 firmware on my iPad Air 2.Now I need to downgrade it to iOS 10.3.3.So how do I do that easily? Please give me a solution to do that.
It is impossible, except if 10.3.3 is being marked which it at present isn't.

The question above implies that you somehow have an option or choice in the matter.

You don't.

It's not that it's the "best thing"... it's the only thing :p

I think the better method is "Don't upgrade unless you wanna stay on there"
