I have an iPhone 7 Plus, 256GB Model.
I also have an ipad pro 10.5 2017 running 10.3.3

Since I got second screen replacement at August 2017, I never upgraded my iOS since.

Not only I'm used to older iOS formats, but I love the circle shaped antenna signals, and bottom dock app's name appearing.

1. If you guys were me, would you upgrade to iOS latest version?
2. which benefits can I get from both iphone and ipad with ios12 on it?

Wtf I just noticed there no name on the iOS 12 dock lol Hmmm that’s kinda weird to not have names actually.

No need to upgrade as long as you don’t use banking apps, pay for anything via your phone or store anything remotely personal on the device. If you want the latest security updates and do plan on doing the above, might be worth updating.
Lol with all those restrictions what do you use the phone for.

OP I think security is important to keep up with so with those restrictions it’s hard to tell what you use this device for?

Hmmmm. Yeah. Jailbroken on 9.0.2.

I use my banking app and Apple Pay as well as keeping some private data on my phone.

Not planning on updating. Would lose the last fully untethered jailbreak.

If it does what you want and you are comfortable with it, why upgrade ?

That’s what OP is asking us.

Check out a feature list for each subsequent iOS release after the one you’re on and ask yourself if any of them are worth it to you. As has been mentioned, there’s a lot of security/bug fix updates that would probably benefit you but in reality you’re probably safe either way.

I always run the most current publicly available OS version on my devices. I don't see any reason not to stay current.

Because before iOS 12, upgrading usually crippled devices. Look at what happened to the poor iPhone 4s on iOS 9. iOS 11 also made the iPhone 6 very slow. It wasn't until last year when iOS 12 came out people finally starting to upgrade.

OP - its probably best to keep your iPhone 7 on its original firmware. Nothing will ever work as good as that, including iOS 12.

That’s never been my experience, but I can only speak for myself. I actually did have an iPhone 6 running iOS 11. I think it took a bit of a hit in battery life, but performance was okay in my opinion.

Performance was nowhere as good as it was on the last version of iOS 8.

Depends... Personally I don't see any sense in 10.3.3 in 2019 except for jailbreak, but if you don't have any sensitive info on your phone (or you don't care if someone will see your Princess Celestia pictures :D ) and you don't have any usability/performace issues then why not?

Incorrect. You’re comparing iOS 8 to the latest versions of iOS, which the latest versions have greatly helped the performance of older iPhones, included more security measures than iOS 8 ever could have, and stability is much more fluid than iOS 8 as well. In terms of performance, iOS 8 doesn’t even compare to iOS 12 for example.

does jailbreak give some significant advantages still? Back in the days when jailbreaking was popular, it provided something similar to control center, which is now providen by default.

Depends on the use case :) I'm not a specialist in this field, so better ask someone who has a good experince with it (eyoungren, for example) or on Reddit (/r/jailbreak).

Not correct. I was saying that no device will work as smoothly as it does on its native iOS. iPhone 6 on iOS 8.4 is way better than iPhone 6 on iOS 12. I use it daily. No it’s not more secure but it’s more fluid and faster. Not by much but still enough. That’s why I don’t upgrade and won’t.

Oh god no

iOS 10 and 7plus is fantastic performance and battery life. Whether you jailbreak or not stay. Plus you got that now classic CC which I always preferred

The day I upgraded my
7plus was the day I fell out of love with it

Still a nice device but iOS 10 was perfection

Yes I agree with you too.

Each iphone is best suited for the latest, but same number ios version at release. Ex) iPhone 5s in 7.1.2 or iPhone 7 at 10.3.3

Also, I enjoy the uniqueness(?) of having old version of ios, potentially affecting higher value in the used market.

for security updates, IMO.

iOS 12 is great. Very fast, very stable. There aren't really that many must have features each year now, but there are always small improvements, and iOS 12 is so fast that I can't see any compelling reason NOT to update (possible exception: multitasking on iPad was way better on iOS 10. I really can't stand what they've done to it since).

If you don’t agree with any of the advice here about updating then it looks like you have your answer. I think you always had your answer to be honest.
