iOS 11.2 beta 1

Release Date — October 30, 2017
Build Number — 15C5092b
Darwin Kernel Version 17.3.0 Wed Oct 25 19:27:19 PDT 2017

New Features & Changes

  • New animation when tapping top right corner of music panel in Control Center
  • Updated camera icon in Messages image chooser (image)
  • System-wide scroll-to-top effect added to News app
  • New loading animation for Live Photos Effects (image)
  • New camera emojis (image)
  • TV app now available in Sweden (possibly other countries as well)
  • Increased usage of "You have # new (App) notifications"
  • AirPlay 2: Can now control Apple TV playback (both music & video) from Control Center (image 1, image 2)
  • Pull down widget screen to open search without press in the search box (also if iPhone is locked, but the search results are less, like no documents, and require password or touch id)
  • The ••• menu on an App Listing in the App Store when tapped now shows a “More by this Developer” option instead of only opening the iOS share sheet.
  • Control Center album art corner radius has been changed.
  • Rapidly clicking the power button twice does not result in a locked device.
  • It is now possible to 'send' call audio to another Handoff device such as an iPad during a call.
  • Old whiskey emoji is back
New Issues
  • Cannot force press on now playing bar in Music and Podcasts apps.
  • (From release notes) After using an iPhone with an iPhone dock, using a charger without the dock requires restarting the phone.
  • Each time returning from Notifications will trigger a prompt to let user update iOS to a new beta. Update: each time unlock the device, same prompt will pop up. There is no way to permanently remove this popup. Reinstalling profile will pause it a while but will come back. Update 2: any action involving using cover sheet (just stick with this name for now) will 100% trigger “new beta” pop up. No fix.
  • Notifications may fail to display until a random amount of time has passed.
  • The device will display 1% remaining battery for a few seconds immediately after bootup. Issue remedies itself.
  • App Store links for More by [developer] and You May Also Like show the text of the link overlaid on the icons.
  • Options to Offload Unused Apps, Autodelete Old Conversations, and Review Large Attachments are no longer accessible on some devices.
Remaining Issues
  • take a photo or video horizontally and it ends up being vertical (annoying for video) randomly occurs, happened on iOS11 and 11.1
  • iBooks - books randomly disappear even though they have been downloaded already (redownload and any bookmarks disappear) Randomly occurrence and after every iOS update
  • No way to highlight text in books via iBooks (option there in iOS10) removed or bug?
  • Scheduled fetch and notifications not working for favorited folders in Non-Push mail accounts in native Mail App.
  • iBooks third party apps text highlights sharing missing.
  • Lockscreen will sometimes fail to display anything except for the status bar (scrolling up/down does not resolve this, only solution is a restart)
  • Tap to scroll to top intermittently stops working in Safari. Clearing tab fixes issue.
Resolved Issues
  • Calculator bug has been resolved
  • Stutters when swiping up Control Center appear to be resolved
  • Portrait Mode now opens when accessing via 3D Touch from Camera icon in Control Center
  • Bunch of visual glitches fixed (missing artwork drop shadow in Music, hover effect inconsistencies, and so on – details here)
  • Re-added folder indication when you search a single app (folder not shown in iOS 11)
  • Accessing Wi-Fi settings via 3D Touch or through the settings menu now searches for and lists Wi-Fi networks (rather than showing an empty list which required toggling Wi-Fi on/off to get it to populate).
  • Exchange accounts set up in Mail now react to Notification actions (e.g. pressing Mark as Read or Trash/Archive)
  • Fade-out when closing Music app from App Switcher is back
  • Sounds no longer crackles on the iPhone 6s Plus (when playing music)
  • The messages bug has been fixed, from the contact info if you tap on the "message" icon it's supposed to get you to that person's conversation chat not the main messages display, this has been fixed.

Gonna hold off on 11.2 for the time being. Im going to be restoring my iPhone X from my 8Plus backup on Friday, so I don't want to have to install 11.2 on the brand new X right away.

No visible changes or new features? I think theyre going in the right direction. New features and new ui in major versions and the x.1, x.2 etc updates are just for refining the major versions. Good!
