Hi everyone,

What’s everyone’s battery life on the iPhone 6S with IOS14? Here is a screenshot of mine.

Thanks

It was driving me insane, so the Watch and Phone have been reset.

iPhone has been DFU'd using 3utools. Seems easy enough to do.

In my experience I’ve got the best iOS experience when I restore using default tools on a Mac. All other methods lead to some issue or the other, that nobody can ever explain or reverse engineer.

3utools uses iTunes driver to do the restore, so it should be the same.

What sort of issues have you had?

My old iPhone 6s Plus has an iFixit battery with 99% health. Restored with iTunes and downloaded the betas. Battery life is really very bad. Performance too but that’s ok. It’s an old iPhone

What kind of battery life do you get? See my screenshot above.

I am not using it much but I’m losing 1% every minute.
Was your battery ok before on iOS13?

After restoring, the battery life is much worse, but most likely indexing, download photos, etc. Hopefully, after a few days it should be ok.

Just curious, could you screenshot your battery for the last days. It will be interesting to see how the battery compares.

I wonder if iOS14 is optimised for the newer iPhones, with the older ones taking a back seat for a few beta updates.

Roll on Beta 4.

It’s not my daily device but I can try to use it more. It’s not fun because it’s slower than my XS Max. I can only say that the battery life on my iPad Air 3 is good

Just checked my battery with coconut battery and it seems ok.

I can only assume the Beta is the reason for the drain. Annoying, but not much I can do. All the bugs I found reported via feedback. Roll on Beta 4 :)

Planned obsolescence lol.

The rumor that apple deliberately messes up the battery life on old phones to make you purchase the newer ones.

Or it could be:

1. The newer iPhones are faster, and although slower, the lag is less noticeable.
2. The new iPhones have better batteries.
3. Apple will optimise iOS14 for the newer iPhones first, then the older ones last.

If you have an iPhone 6S, keep reporting those bugs!

iPhone 6s was released in September 2015, it will be 5 years when iOS 14 ships. If Apple is really doing what you say rumor is, don’t you think they suck at it??

Ok. I found the problem. I took my case off to clean the iPhone and the battery us swelled and the screen lifted slightly.

Battery removed.

I only noticed because a white patch appeared on the screen middle right. As I have a case, I couldn’t see the bulge. As soon as I removed the case, it was bulging. I removed it, so the screen goes back to normal (which it has already).

I ordered a 95-100 battery health genuine battery from eBay from Apple breakers who tear down phones and sell the parts. Better than a copy battery that will bulge again.

I will instal and report back in a few days when the replacement battery arrives.

Umm, no it means they are really good at it. A phone with 100% battery capacity is barely getting an hour of screen time, by his own screenshot.

All of those reasons are encouraging you to buy, you guessed it, a new phone!

If I buy an old phone with 100% battery capacity, I would not expect a software "update" to kill my battery life and render my phone a virtual paperweight. That seems like a bug, not a feature.

Or due to my recent comment above caused by a faulty/swelled battery that I discovered last night! :)

My only concern is why the battery is showing 100% capacity in the Apple battery settings when it is clearly swelled and faulty.

I only noticed since upgrading to iOS14, coincidence or maybe it was degrading for some time and I never noticed due to using a case.

So if you are getting poor battery life:

1. Apple battery health and coconut battery are not reliable indicators (both showed the battery as ok)
2. check for white patches on the screen
3. check for a bulge, lifted display

If you’re looking for a new battery for the 6S check out “Can you extend battery life of an iPhone with a "boosted" High Capacity battery?” on YouTube.
You can actually get much more battery life compared to a new original battery.

Thanks.

I will replace the battery then, a year or so later, replace the phone.
