My anecdotal experience: The health will last longer if you physically plug in every night vs. wireless charging. The heat generated by wireless does the battery no favors. Mildly less convenient for greater longevity.

My daughter’s 13 mini is 1 year and 9 months and is at 88%. It’s been at 88 for a couple months now. She frequently lets it die completely and often has it sitting on the charger at 100% for a long time 🙈

I'm at 81% on a 13 mini I bought in January 2022. I'm waiting for it to drop to 80% and then will replace the battery, as it certainly drops faster than it used to.

I'm being offered a s/h 12 mini at a good price - it will get v light use. The general vibe is that the 12 mini is v disappointing in terms of battery charge during the day - what is your experience?
I don’t think i can give you a valuable answer as i’m not a heavy user. Just browsing a bit, no social media, etc.. sometimes I charge it every 2 days… so for me is fine but depends on the usage.

Just had the battery replaced after 27 months with 82%.
Used a 10 W charger most of the time during the night
How did you get Apple to cover the battery at 82%?? I was told by Apple Support mine has to be 79% to get the free battery replacement. My AppleCare+ expires Feb 9th, and I am sitting at 80%, desperate to try and get it to 79% before the warranty runs out!

My 13 mini's battery health is now at 69%. 10 weeks ago it was 76%. That means lately it's dropping an average of 1% every 10 days.

Yesterday I experienced a shutdown when my battery's charge showed 27%.

Can anyone advise me on the 'health' of an original battery in an iPhone 8 - how much will it have deteriorated since 2017 even if completely unused.

Click on "general tips"

Guessing how much it has deteriorated if you haven't followed the "storage if not used" advice is impossible.

Thanks, I'd not seen that. I think I'll use Coconut on my MBP to check the health of this thing before I buy - at what is otherwise a bargain price.

Sounds like a good choice, also, remember that iPhone 8 is slowly nearing end of life. iOS 17 didn't make it to that device so maybe its better to get something newer. Check out the SE2020, still being supported, same formfactor.

Discussing batteries on another forum made me look at my battery health. I was surprised to see my 13 mini, which is only one year and 4 months old to have a score of less than 90%. Any way to know if this is normal? If not, is there any good way to increase its life (slow down its degradation)? I’ve been using the Optimize function to charge my battery. I put it on a charger every night. I know it doesn’t charge it to 100% until just before my normal wake up time. There’s no built in option to only charge it to 80%. Maybe I should stop charging it every night. Most days I bet I could get two full days from a charge. Or, maybe I should just charge it to 80% manually, which would be a pain.
Hello All, Well I go the new 14 pro Max phone about a year ago and the Battery life it at 91 %. Would anyone know about how long the battery's last. I hope to get 5 or more years out of the phone. Thanks

About another year if you keep using it the same amount imo. Apple says the batteries should be able to handle around 500 charge cycles before capacity reaches 80%, and voltage inconsistencies start impacting the electronics. I’m at 89% and plan to have the battery replaced this year on my 14 pro, and keep it going a few more years.

Canada, eh!
I'm at 85% after 27 months. I only ever wirelessly charge my 13 mini. Usually in the evening but I never leave it on the charger overnight. I don't use my phone that much and I've never noticed any decreased battery life over time. I will wait until the charge is noticeably worse before getting the battery replaced.

Mine is at 84% and has been these for a few months now. I wish there was a new mini model so I could upgrade. I will probably end up getting the battery replaced by apple if there is no new mini by the end of the year.

With AppleCare+ You can extend it monthly for about £8.50 a month til it drops to 79%

I wish I could! There is no option for me to extend. :( I am paying month to month on other devices [iPhone mini 12 and iPhone 8!], but for some reason my mini 13 AppleCare+ is set to expire in about a week. I may chat with support again and find out if there is any way to extend the AC+ month to month or if I have to wait till it is expired. I have had batteries replaced before at 80%, so it seems the 79% is new [to me]. My Apple Watch Series 7 is at 80% as well

My 2 year old 13 mini battery is currently at 98%.
Envious. Mine is just about to turn 2. But I used it very heavily for 9 months in 2022 - it and my Series 7 AW [also at 80%] were with me for a 2,194.3 mile hike from Georgia to Maine - hiking the Appalachian Trail. Over 33,000 photos and videos taken on the little guy. :) And the Watch recorded my hikes daily. I conserved battery a lot, as I would only go into town every 7-10 days to resupply/charge my 2 battery banks, etc. But when they were used, they were used! [Keeping the display off helped my AW last for 14+ hour hiking workouts, and keeping my phone in low battery and airplane mode most of the day also helped].

I did half of that trail years ago. It was wonderful. Good on you and your 13 mini to make it all the way.
