I believe an X or an XR can be had for a lot less than 4 figures. Totally agree that spending that much is a waste of money that could be spent on better things. Doesn’t mean you have to sink to the 6SSS or 6SSS surfboard edition though

It has a similar shell. Cut the drama. As if the notch design wouldn’t go into round 4 now.

Probably in reality not true NIB as offer up is the biggest scam site on the planet. Worse than Craigslist. In the future for buying used go to swappa.com. Much better in my opinion. Anyway if the 8+ is in good shape you did well even if it were refurbed. I wouldn’t worry about it. I am of the opposite opinion in that I will buy second hand everyday of the week for the money savings. Has worked well for me. Just look for mint condition ones. You can tell the ones that have been taken care of vs ones that haven’t.

For sure you can find mint ones for 450 to 500.

I did a quick check in the market

So far I am seeing most 2nd hand shops selling the 8 Plus for about 600 SGD (440 USD) with only one month of shop's warranty while I am seeing a shop specialising in selling refurbs that sell the 8 for about 399 SGD (293 USD)

Meanwhile to repair my iPad Pro screen at 3rd party places, it will take from 300 SGD to 800 SGD (220 USD to 588 USD) depend on the cause and severity of the issue. Right now parts are out of stock but once they are restocked, it will take a day at most to swap the parts

Should I go for these, or do I go for the online shops you all have mentioned here? Note that I do not have a hard deadline for this; waiting is an option (though I can see that the faster I get the raw/field test data, the better I can decide)

I have a IPhone 8+ and it’s a great phone. My battery is completely knackered on it and so I will update this year. But it’s still super fast and gray screen.

I also love that it has the home button

@darkarn: I went back to my 8+ from the SE2020 because of the poor battery life on the SE. I got a new battery put in for $49 and am chugging along nicely. TouchID is a must have for me as well.

I have both phones as well. The 8 plus is my main phone and I use the SE 2020 as a phone to use when the 8 plus is charging. I got a free line from T Mobile so it worked out for me. I also love Touch ID.

I've had the 8+ for three years and it has given me zero issues. It takes great photos and I would keep this phone for another year (at least) if T-Mobile wasn't willing to give me so much for it to trade it in. The only thing I dislike about the phone is the size but for three years I've had it and it hasn't been too bad.

If you can find one at a good price, go with the 8+. It was one of my favorite iPhones of all time, especially the pinking cream "gold" color. But... if you can find a XR/11 anywhere close to that price and could swing it, go with that.

I'd definitely rather have an 8 Plus over an SE strictly because of the screen size. I have an 11 Pro Max and just couldn't go back to a screen that small.
