Found a bargain on a LTE 512GB 12.9" but it's not the latest. It's a 2017 model

Upgrading from a first gen iPad Air (32GB WiFi). Are there any "gotchas" to be aware of other than having a souped up iPhone 7 CPU?

There have been reports of quite a good deal of issues with the second gen 12.9... I don’t have it (I have the first gen 12.9 and second gen 10.5) so I cannot say for sure, but I have read quite a good deal about it on these forums

Well, the beast arrived today and wow! Great battery condition, looks new, and it’s now restoring from my iCloud backup.

Looks new?? I suppose you bought it used or refurbished somewhere?

Bought it refurbished from Amazon. It’s absolutely perfect! No issues with the display, battery is at 97% health.

The speed on this thing is pretty insane considering it’s a 2017 model. Sure my phone benches higher numbers but that display... it’s hard to go back to anything else.

Right? The geek in me is still wondering if I should replace my 2017 with a 2020 Pro - but in reality, I don't need to. It's plenty fast for my moderately heavy usage (writing, photo editing, media), and to think that it "only" has an A10X inside just blows my mind. I mean, the processor can't even access all its cores (performance and efficiency cores) altogether in my iPP 2017 - that's a feature that is reserved for A11 and onward. Insane, really.

I have also found that having 512GB of storage is like gold raining from the heavens after cramming 32GB for so long...

Hah, all the Arcade games and all the purchased apps - at once?! :)
Any noticeable improvements about stereo speakers and ProMotion display smoothness?

I bought my 2017 Pro 10.5 a couple of months ago with discount and i couldn't be happier. I mean, i could, but i don't think it justifies the heftier price.

Enjoy!
I too have just bought a new iPad Pro 11”. I’m loving it.

although I wish some websites weren’t made only for mobile because some just look poor on the iPad.

I just bought a first generation iPad Pro and haven’t touched my laptop in a week at least. I love this thing. It is so awesome and perfect. It IS my laptop replacement.

I said in another topic that ProMotion is a real game changer and it’s hard to go back to anything else. Why Apple doesn’t apply ProMotion to the MacBook Pro line is a curiosity indeed.

The speakers on my 12.9 are the best I’ve heard yet, with great separation and a full rich experience that surprises you. This is a killer movie watching device if you’re on the road.

Still waiting for my keyboard case/folio and Apple Pencil.

‘Safari is supposed to bring the “true” desktop browsing experience to iPad in iPadOS 13.x

Some sites don’t identify correctly?

Under the share button you can request the desktop website which often works better if websites aren't optimised for large iPads.

I have been really impressed by the speed and how Safari handles websites. All site I visited so far were desktop mode.

Also, Firefox browser is really great and really fast as well.

My mistake, just it was a case of some sites not looking great on iPad. Clearly, designers are now designing for mobile.

As for this iPad Pro, the more I use it, the more wowed I am. It’s astonishing. Reading the news, watching Netflix and movies is all excellent and a joy on this device.

I think the screen and FaceID are even better than my Xs!

Typing though :-/ trying to get used to one handed. It’s a bit of a pain.

Enjoy your device. Don't look for problems where there aren't any.
