The only stinky leather case I had was a replica I got on eBay. It made me sick to my stomach so I tossed it.
Yes mine smells like chemicals, made my hands stink also.

Yes! That best describes it, cheap.
And if I recall, Apple used to include a care card on how to properly treat the leather case since it was real leather. I’m not saying the new cases today aren’t leather, but the sure don’t age as well as previous cases.View attachment 888821 I found this example on reddit. You can clearmy see a difference in patina with previous generations in comparison to the ones of today. Could it be the camera used to take the pic who knows, but this definitely looks different
Took matters into my hands and did a little staining myself since I wasn’t happy on how it was turning out with natural patinaAnd if I recall, Apple used to include a care card on how to properly treat the leather case since it was real leather. Keep in my mind my case already had a bit of patina, but I sped up the process by using some nail polish remover and then applying some coconut oil to add the darkness along with a bit of conditioner. No sand paper was used the nail polish remover was more than enough. I used a micro fiber to work in the the nail polish remover along with the oil and conditionerMan that looks good! Love it! Almost as much as the Flint 13’s

(Hope it’s clear I’m joking)Damn, you two. Get a room.
Looks good to me. I did the same, although my method was, wipe the case down with a purell alcohol hand wipe, dry for 30 minutes then apply a thin coat of Smith’s leather balm. Let it sit for 5 minutes then used the case for a day. Next day used 400 grit sandpaper as well then wiped it down with another purell wipe. Let dry for 5 minutes and applied another layer of Smith’s leather balm and used it ever since which was about 2 weeks ago. Just yesterday I left the case out in direct sunlight for a solid 5 hours and then applied a coat of Smith’s leather balm. Case has been used since 12/14/19. I’m starting to get quite a few compliments on my case at work lately. On my 3rd week with the saddle brown. Got impatient with the look and feel at 2 weeks so I hit it with some 400 grit sand paper and then some leather conditioner.
At first I thought I made a big mistake as it got really tacky feeling and the color was darker and blotchy.
After a week it has evened out a bit and feels a lot better.
Most current
