My problem is the opposite. My 16GB M1 MacMini is starting to show the reboot problem after several months of usage, (spoiler alert) my solutions was to switch the connection to: USB-C -> HDMI.
Originally connected via the computer's HDMI port to the HDMI port on a 4K HDMI monitor, and after about 4 minutes of transferring files to an external USB-C 2TB GDrive... the problem showed up...MacMini shutdown/reboot.
When the monitor was connected HDMI (computer) -> HDMI (monitor), during extensive coding operations, it would occasionally flicker...but
...when a long transfer of data (i.e. the entire Xcode.app ) to the external drive, after 4-5 minutes, the my M1 MacMini rebooted.
Attempted this file transfer 3 more times...each time, reboot would occur after about 4 - 5 minutes.
-----------
As per suggestion in previous posts, I then connected to the monitor via USB-C (computer port) -> HDMI (monitor port)
This attempt succeeded. I tend to agree with the premise that the HDMI port output is the culprit. USB-C output did not show the same problem, even though the destination HDMI port was the same.
----------
It would be interesting to try the connection via a USB-C dock.. but for now, looks like driving my big monitor off of the USB-C port is the solution.
Note: Earlier in the month I had a hint of the problem, but was not doing large file transfers. I run dual monitors (HDMI and USB-C out ports to a 4K and 2K respectively) ...and I did see the occasional flicker out on the HDMI monitor...with occassional 'odd' connection sequences, didn't get a full shutdown/reboot until I started doing the larger ...lengthy file transfers. Simple coding would cause flickers but not reboots..and until now, it was an annoyance but not the major critical problem this now shows.
2 things come to mind: have you updated to the latest macOS, and do you have any USB-C cables attached? These were what solved the same problem I had (update & better cables)I am having this issue but ONLY when I boot to Safe Mode! It boots to safe mode then after about 30 seconds it flashes the pink screen and restarts into normal mode with the "computer restarted because of a problem" warning. This is doubly frustrating because I'm trying to boot in safe mode to diagnose a problem with my DaVinci Resolve application crashing! Could those be related?
M1 mini 16Gb
I do have Monterey 12.3.1(pretty sure that's the latest) and I just tried without thunderbolt plugged in -no luck. I did leave a Logitech USB receiver plugged in for my keyboard /mouse. I will try without that, just need to find an old keyboard. Thanks for the response, seems like a lot of people are having this problem. Interesting that that the USB-C solved it for you...2 things come to mind: have you updated to the latest macOS, and do you have any USB-C cables attached? I ve the same issue. It started with adobe lightroom cloud issues. Have a drobo drive attached.. appears to restart when”sleeping”.I got the first M1 Mac mini from last year and I start having a crash issue which still happening. It seems a few apps are causing the problem but even a native app is also causing the problem.

I was lucky enough to capture the moment right before it crashes. I have several videos btw. It freezes for a few sec and then shows a pink screen to restart the computer. I kept contacting Apple about this issue and I even spoke with Apple engineer but they weren't able to figure out the problem. So far, Huion Tablet app or driver is the main issue to me and I see other people having a same issue but then some people dont have a same issue.
I'm using Big Sur 11.4 and yet it crashes quite often. Once per day I would say. I really cant say Intel apps on Apple Silicon Mac is the problem cause Huion Tablet app is a native app and it was the main problem. I removed all files of Huion including plist but still, it crashes a lot. I had to format M1 Mac mini several times but it never solve the problem. It's really risky to use M1 Mac mini to work with cause it crashes randomly no matter if I use a specific app or not. I tried many testings since November 2020 but why do I have to deal with this, not Apple?
At this point, even Apple does not know what's the issue. Am I the only one having this issue?
Maybe try another browser?I found the problem. Might be Safari. I was copying some files from one drive to another. And it was fine for 30 minutes. As soon as I opened Safari to start browsing it crashed and flashed the pink screen. And then restarted.
Can understand your frustration! I have had no luck at all using my 2020 M1 Mac Mini to attempt to install V13.0.1 of Ventura onto a new, Samsung 1 TB T7 External SSD, formatted correctly, via Disk Utility, as APFS. It is just so frustrating and baffling. Apple sure has made life difficult these past 2 years (at least) with putting up so, so many barriers, including trying to install either Monterey or Ventura onto a properly formatted external SSD.I partitioned the internal 250gb ssd into 2 parts. One 50gb with Monterey and the rest with Ventura 13.2 beta. I have successfully copied all my files over without any pink screen and restarting. So something in Ventura is messing me up. Maybe I just need to do a clean install.
