Not necessarily.

Take out the battery (if you can) and let it dry completely before you try to turn it on.

BTW, how did the MBP end up in the pool? It wasn't texting, was it?

uhh.... yeah it probably is dead.

Get you a huge bag of rice and put it inside for like a week or two, don't mess with it and then take it out and try it. You may want to remove the battery first and probably get a new battery altogether.

But really, it's probably dead.

If the logic board or the CPU (or any other component) made a short circuit somewhere, then yes. If it refuses to turn on, that was the case.

However, it may well be because of the high humidity. Let it dry and retry in a few days. If nothing happens, dead.

Wow... This is a first. I haven't heard of a complete submergence before in terms of water damage. I am curious about how that happened lol.

Why so close to the pool with your MBP? or any electrical device for that matter.

You folks must have heated pools. I live in Florida and no way I'd venture into a pool this time of year.

Even if it's dry, there's still going to be all kinds of residue left over from the pool water. And the fact that you attempted to turn it on without taking care of the residue first (or even letting the internals dry completely for that matter) means you're almost definitely SOL.
