Now I am confused...
Do you have the 17" connected to both your mini (HDMI), and at the same time, the 17" is connected to your Firestix? And, the 32" only works when the 17" is also connected?
You only have one HDMI port on your 2012 mini. The other port that can be used for video out is Thunderbolt 1 (same port can be used for mini displayport)
Could you post a schematic of connections that you use to get a working video out to both the 17-inch, and the 32-inch at the same time?
Maybe the quicker question is: Does the 32-inch work if you connect Thunderbolt to HDMI? That would be using the mini displayport output, converting to HDMI for the 32-inch, and not pure HDMI from the mini to the 32-inch

I’ll clear things up
17” monitor hooked to mini with a thunderbolt to hdmi (hdmi 2)
17” monitor hooked to firestix with hdmi (hdmi 1)
32” monitor hooked to mini
with hdmi cable (hdmi on both ends) to hdmi 1
No I didn’t try thunderbolt to hdmi with 32” monitor
That should clear things up!

I finally bought a LG 31.5 inch monitor new for $149 from Amazon
It is a world of difference between the 32 inch tv I had hooked up!
Everything works perfectly and the resolution is thousand times better
I should have listened sooner and “I told you so…” is an understatement!!
Thanks for all the advice
Mike
