Pitaka informed me the magnet under the logo is for their MegEZ ecosystem (stand, folio, etc) ie unnecessary if you just bought the MagEZ case.

I thick and heavy Dbrand skin will prevent your folio from lifting up

My guess is Pitaka made the case bottom thicker to accommodate the magnets which sit in recessed pockets for their “ecosystem”. This negatively impacted the tension of the material connecting the top and bottom pieces of the Apple folio. It does look like the rim on the case is affecting how the folio cover sits on the screen a bit too.

This whole ecosystem concept was a big mistake on their part imo. They could make more selling Pitaka cases compatible with the Apple Folio, Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard than all revenue combined from the other “ecosystem” products.

So here’s what it looks like under the sticker on the MagEZ2 case. Peeling it off didn’t help. Was hoping a mm or 2 might make the difference. Nope.

Their website shows the magnets without the need of peeling the sticker back. Regardless they needed to have recessed pockets for the rest of the magnets that connect to the magic keyboard so i dont think they system they added really had any effect on anything anyway

Fully aware of the design constraints and need for pockets/cutouts. However, they could’ve adhered them on the surface and had the cutouts on the sticker/cover piece instead. 2D image wouldn’t show that. When I bought though, they didn’t have photo up of the website. However, since they are in the bottom, they had to make the back thicker to accommodate the magnets.

Similar problem with ESR Rebound case. dbrand Apple Folio skin (Black Damascus) fits the case btw.
