I will agree with you on this but honestly I quit thinking of my Surface as a tablet in general like the iPad and started thinking of it as a full desktop OS PC in a tablet form factor. I would love to have an awesome tablet mode (i.e. windows 8) but now just never turn on tablet mode at all. Windows 10 in desktop mode is surprisingly easy to navigate with touch.
