Never. 17" is big enough, I can't imagine anyone would want one (for portability). That's rediculous - just buy an iMac.emw said:That would be the new 20" PowerBook.

Portability? Bah! You either want the smallest laptop or the largest. Anything else is forgettable.mongoos150 said:Never. 17" is big enough, I can't imagine anyone would want one (for portability). That's rediculous - just buy an iMac.
Well in that case - yes. Yes I would.wordmunger said:Would you buy one if it could also serve as a stadium seat? The heat generated by the G5 could serve to warm cold bottoms during late-fall football games!
Er...I beg to differ. 15" pimped out is my route, and most people's route as well. 15" PB is the best selling PowerBook.emw said:Portability? Bah! You either want the smallest laptop or the largest. Anything else is forgettable.
The Toyota Camry is the best selling passenger car in the US, but it doesn't mean I want one. Expedition, tricked out with 20" Sprees, 4 TVs and an X-box. That's the 20" PowerBook.mongoos150 said:Er...I beg to differ. 15" pimped out is my route, and most people's route as well. 15" PB is the best selling PowerBook.
In all honesty I don't think Apple would ever sell one - and if they did it would be too expensive for hardly ANYONE to buy it. They have enough of a hard time selling the 17" (from what the Apple Store brand reps say at least). The cost/benefit ratio wouldn't add up.emw said:The Toyota Camry is the best selling passenger car in the US, but it doesn't mean I want one. Go into System Preferences to enable trackpad clicking.super mini (mac said:using the track pad a s a button is extreemly handy, ive used laptops with that feature and its very handy, i used my bosses 12 pb on sunday and i kept tapping the pad expecting it to click then remebring i have to mave my finger to the left click,
Not so much that they're lacking, and if anything they're more than what I need. But also a bit more than I'm looking to spend. I would like 2 (or more) hard drives, have my own displays (multiple), and would like to swap out video cards, as well as add PCI cards. I could do with a new iMac and external devices, but I'm still hoping for a single around $1299-$1499. If I could get the current dual 2's for that price, I would in a heart beat.Josh396 said:Just out of curiosity, what do the current Power Macs lack that makes you not want to buy one now?
I dont think you have to worry about "little buttons everywhere" from Apple. I could see a "Mighty Button" on the new PB's where one side is a right click (still one piece). This would be configurable back to one button through sys prefs of course.wordmunger said:One thing I hope they DON'T do is some kind of multi-button trackpad. I used a ThinkPad a while back and couldn't stand all the little buttons everywhere.
I agree. It's almost like saying, there will be a sunny day and a rainy day this month, and that's your forecast.powerbook911 said:This is the strangest news story I have ever read. Two new products will be $1999 and $2999. Wow. That is very useful.
Personally I rest my thumb joint on the trackpad button. It's a heck of a lot more comfortable than using any notebook PC and it works better. Because of two finger smooth-as-butter scrolling I don't even use a mouse on my PowerBook. Funny thing is, before getting my PowerBook I hated trackpads.super mini (mac said:using the track pad a s a button is extreemly handy, ive used laptops with that feature and its very handy, i used my bosses 12 pb on sunday and i kept tapping the pad expecting it to click then remebring i have to mave my finger to the left click,
and why do they place the click buttons bellow the trackpad insted of above, it would be much easier if they were above the track pad
or am on my own with this 1?
