A Stoned Throw From Ground Zero
Apple computers have always been designed more with work productivity
in mind than games, but no one can ignore the gaming market.

Even so, the people generally buying an Apple computer in todays market
are still generally looking for a tool rather than a toy.

Some of the comments above about OS X maintenance requirments being
nearly equal to those for maintaining Windows are extremely exagerated.

Most times the problems you do run into with OS X are more of a matter of pilot error than that of the plane.

Repairing permissons takes maybe a minute or 2 and is only required really when you've added software.

Software updates in any platform have their unseen compatibility
issues, but Apple is relatively quick to respond because of the dedication
of the user base who find and report these issues as soon as they are found.

Most of the hardware issues we hear about today are caused by the multitude of 3rd party components that go into these machines.

Sometimes it's the engineer or designer's fault and other times it's how well their design was executed.
Apple does need to crack down hard on quality control, no argument there,
but for the most part thier products are amazing.

I guess you could say it's like intelligent design mixed with evolution in some sort of technological soup and we end up with the results.
